The Guigal Condrieu Doriane is a very limited exclusive wine. The wine is vinified exclusively in small wooden barrels, specially developed for this wine. The Dorina matures for 9 months in new French oak. E.Guigal 'La Doriana' Condrieu is a 100% viognier cuvée from several separate plots. The soil of the Côte Chatillon plot (1 ha) consists of slate and limestone. The plot in Colombier (1 ha) contains a lot of granite and sandstone. On the Volan plot in St Pierre de Boeuf (1 ha) the soil contains granite and iron oxide. For the 2014 vintage, grapes from the Coteau de Chéry plot (0.5 ha) were also used. The many different terroirs give the wine depth. The average age of the grapes is 35 years. This single grape viognier underwent malolactic fermentation and then matured for 8 months in new wooden barrels. The wine smells of white flowers and peach and mandarin and bitter citrus fruits. The palate is fresh, round, rich and full of flavor. The wine is medium to full-bodied, very pure and elegant with a great depth and lively acidity. In one word great and always high in the 90+ points

The 2024 Condrieu La Doriane, vinified and matured entirely in barrel, is sourced from parcels in Côteau de Chéry, Côteau de Vernon, Colombier, Côte Chatillon and Château de Volan. It reveals a refined, slightly toasted bouquet marked by attractive reduction, combining the exuberance typical of Condrieu with a degree of restraint rarely encountered in the appellation. Full-bodied, dense and round, it marries power with precision, remaining racy, ethereal and saline through the finish. It's a superb rendition that should rival the excellent 2023 with time in the cellar.
For a more in-depth perspective on this iconic Northern Rhône house, I invite readers to consult my article titled “Guigal – Between Terroir and Technique.”
As elsewhere in Northern Rhône, the 2023s are notably successful, combining the vintage’s inherent dynamism with a precise articulation of site. The hallmark creamy oak influence that has long defined the house style—still present—appears today more measured than in the past, allowing the underlying terroirs to emerge with greater clarity and definition.
The 2024 whites are equally compelling. This is, after all, a domaine that has consistently demonstrated its command of white winemaking, and the vintage does nothing to contradict that reputation, delivering wines that marry textural generosity with freshness and delineation.

From: Northern Rhône 2024: One Hill Rises (Jan 2026)
The 2024 Condrieu La Doriane brings together grapes from five different lieux-dits (Côte Chatillon, Vernon, Chéry, Verlieu and Volan) and is aged for ten months in 100% new oak barriques. Pronounced flintstone, lightly ripe apricot, white peach and melon lead the aromatics. Richly weighted, concentrated and dense, the 2024 is a gorgeous La Doriane, carrying its final notes forward with impressive persistence on the long, lingering finish.
- By Nicolas Greinacher, January 2026
This year’s visit to Guigal offered a revealing snapshot of a great estate in the midst of a subtle but meaningful stylistic shift. The 2024 vintage marks the fourth year made entirely with barrels from a new Beaune-based cooperage, and the cumulative impact is now unmistakable. Looking back at my assessments since 2021, the first vintage under the new regime, the changes are consistent: less overt vanillin and clove aromas, fewer wood-driven tannins that once lent notable youthful austerity, and a greater sense of roundness and composure. To be clear, the wines feel no less structured, but the architecture is calmer and more naturally integrated, a direction that suits the Guigal style well.
Philipp Guigal also shared a candid market observation. The estate has seen rising demand in the lower-priced tiers such as Côtes-du-Rhône and Crozes-Hermitage, while activity in the prestige categories of Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage and Condrieu has been more subdued. Judging from what is already bottled, the top wines remain as compelling and precise as ever. Four wines in particular made a strong impression on this occasion. The 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Turque, from a challenging vintage, stuns with cool-toned freshness and superb drive, making it one of the standout Côte-Rôties of the year. The 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is a broader and more imposing wine built on undeniable power, buffered by notably smooth tannins. On the white side, the 2023 Ermitage Blanc Ex-Voto delivers a beautifully judged interplay of toast, cedar and lemon peel enriched by ripe peach. Full-bodied and concentrated, it moves with impressive crispness and finishes with flinty nuance. Finally, the 2024 Condrieu La Doriane, sourced from five lieux-dits and aged in 100% new oak, is dense, powerful and richly textured, with an extended finish that confirms its status as one of the appellation’s most commanding whites. And finally, producing a multi-million-bottle red Côtes-du-Rhône of such compelling quality as achieved in 2022 reflects seriously impressive blending skill.

Maison E. Guigal is a winery with a great reputation. The company was founded in 1946 and is now three generations old. Founder Etienne Guigal strongly determined the current identity of this producer. Before setting up his own winery he collected his first experiences with the producer Vidal-Fleury. Marcel Guigal and his son Philippe are now in charge of the company. The latter is responsible for winemaking and thus follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, who experienced no fewer than 67 vintages.
Guigal is located in Ampuis, just 38 km south of Lyon. Here it has 60 hectares of land in the Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Châteauneuf du Pape, Tavel and Gigondas appellations. The Guigals are now also the owners of Domaine de Bonserine and Vidal Fleury. Since 1995, Guigal has managed the company from the famous Château d'Ampuis. This castle dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the 16th century.
The wine magazine Decanter named Marcel Guigal in 2006 "Man of the year." Renowned wine guide Guide Hachette takes it one step further and calls Guigal "the best winemaker in the world." Robert Parker also has deep respect for Guigal. The top wines of this producer regularly receive the highest score of 100 points. The 'La La' wines are special. These come from the 3 top locations 'La Turque', 'La Landonne', and 'La Moulin'.
