Oliveira Lecestre Winery
Oliveira Lecestre is a small-scale winery in Chablis that focuses on terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention. The estate works with care for the vineyards and opts for a style centered on precision, freshness, and purity. Vinification is restrained, aiming to clearly bring out the character of the different plots. They work with respect for nature and the soil, with a focus on sustainability and balance. More information about this winery can be found under the Winery tab.
Region, climate and location
Chablis is located in the north of Burgundy and is characterized by a cool climate and calcareous Kimmeridge soils. This combination produces wines with fresh acidity and pronounced minerality. Fourchaume is one of the most famous Premier Cru vineyards and is situated in a favorable exposure with good sun exposure. The 2024 vintage experienced a challenging growing season with fluctuating conditions, but ultimately resulted in wines with freshness, tension, and a clear terroir expression.
Vineyards and grape varieties
The grapes come from plots within the Premier Cru Fourchaume, situated on slopes with calcareous soils and good drainage. The vineyards benefit from an optimal location that ensures even ripening of the grapes. The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, resulting in a direct and recognizable expression of Chablis with an emphasis on minerality and freshness.
Harvest, vinification and aging
The harvest took place when the balance between ripeness and freshness was optimal. After selection, the grapes were gently pressed and fermented, partly in stainless steel and partly in used wooden barrels. Aging took place over several months, during which contact with the fine lees contributed to structure and complexity. The use of wood remains subtle and supports the wine without being dominant.
Color, smell and taste
The wine has a clear, light golden-yellow color. On the nose, aromas of citrus, green apple, and white stone fruit emerge, complemented by a distinct mineral and slightly salty undertone. There are subtle floral accents and a light spiciness that add extra depth.
On the palate, the wine is crisp and precise, with a clear focus on freshness and tension. The acidity is lively and well-integrated, creating an energetic structure. The texture is refined and slightly creamy due to contact with the lees, without losing tightness. The finish is long and mineral, with a salty note and a fresh, persistent finale. The wine develops beautifully in the glass, revealing increasing detail.
Development and drinking window
The wine is already attractive in its youth due to its freshness and precision, but also has sufficient structure to age for several years. The expected drinking window lies between 2026 and 2034, during which the wine will develop towards greater complexity and softness, while retaining its minerality.
