Domaine Ballot-Millot is a beautiful family estate in Meursault where generations have succeeded one another since the 17th century. Today, Charles Ballot is at the helm, having taken over the estate from his father Philippe in 2000. Under his leadership, the domaine has grown into one of the most respected names in the region. With approximately 30 hectares of vineyards, spread across top terroirs in Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard, and Volnay, he works with great respect for the terroir and low yields. Old vines are cherished, while modern techniques are carefully employed to further enhance quality. The transition to organic viticulture has also been set in motion.

The Meursault from Ballot-Millot comes from five different plots on clay and limestone soils, with vines averaging around 35 years old. The grapes are processed with great precision. The whole bunches remain uncrushed during fermentation, which takes place partly in oak barrels. This is followed by further aging in stainless steel, a deliberate choice to keep the influence of wood subtle and to preserve the freshness, tension, and minerality. This makes this wine fundamentally different from the rich, full style often associated with Meursault.

In the glass, the 2024 immediately reveals its class. Aromas of pear, green apple, and white peach are complemented by a light reductive touch that adds extra tension. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and remarkably precise.
