Doisy-Daëne Blanc Sec 2024: refined dry white Bordeaux with character
The Doisy-Daëne Blanc Sec 2024 is a dry white wine of exceptional class, from Château Doisy-Daëne, a historic estate in Barsac that has been in the hands of the renowned Dubourdieu winemaking family since 1924. Although the château is best known for its noble sweet Sauternes wines, this dry Blanc Sec proves that the Barsac terroir is also perfectly suited to elegant, dry white wines with depth.
The vineyards are located on the characteristic Barsac plateau, where a thin layer of red sandy soil rests on a chalky subsoil. This particular soil composition – unique to Bordeaux – ensures natural water regulation and gives the wine its typical minerality and freshness. The Sauvignon Blanc vines do not have roots deeper than fifty centimetres, which ensures a concentrated expression of the terroir in each grape.
For this 2024 harvest, only the best bunches are hand-harvested, coming from all the Sauvignon plots on the estate. After a short maceration on the skins, if necessary, the juice is pressed slowly and carefully, completely protected from oxidation. It is fermented in oak barrels, of which only 20% are renewed each year to preserve a subtle woody note. The wine is aged for eight months on its fine lees, with regular bâtonnage for added creaminess and complexity.

The Doisy-Daëne Blanc Sec 2024 is fresh, powerful and extremely refined. On the nose aromas of white peach, grapefruit and a hint of blossom. On the palate fresh and pure, with notes of ripe pear, citrus, subtle spices and a fine, salty minerality. The wine has a beautiful balance between lively acidity and a soft, almost creamy structure. Very expressive when young, but with a clear storage potential of five to ten years.
This wine is perfect with refined dishes such as ceviche, shellfish, grilled fish, risotto with green asparagus or a salad with burrata and citrus. Also delicious as an aperitif on a warm day. Aromatic, fresh and complex.
