The Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes 2024 is a characterful, dry white wine from the prestigious Premier Cru Classé terroir of Sauternes. This cuvée, made exclusively from old Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc vines, displays the power and precision of this unique region – in a style that perfectly combines refinement, tension, and length.

Terroir and climate: a year of extremes

2024 began with heavy rainfall in the autumn and winter, followed by a wet and mild spring with the necessary challenges such as mildew pressure and uneven flowering. Thanks to a warm, dry summer, the grapes still got off to a good start in their ripening. The harvest took place between August 28 and September 13 , in multiple phases and under varying conditions – with strict selection to bring in only the best bunches.

Old sticks, pure expression

The Vieilles Vignes are on average 45 years old and are spread across carefully selected plots. They provide concentration, minerality, and depth. This vintage consists of:

• 56% Sémillon – for structure, ripe white fruit and floral notes,

• 44% Sauvignon Blanc – which provides liveliness, freshness, and finesse.

Vinification and aging of the 2024 Château Suduiraut Grand Vin Blanc Sec Viellies Vignes

The grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing for approximately 2.5 hours, followed by cold settling at 10°C. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats (15% of which are new oak) at a controlled temperature of 17 to 22°C. There is no malolactic fermentation , in order to preserve the fresh acidity.

Maturation takes place over 9 months , of which:

• 12% in new barrels ,

• the remainder in one-year-old barrels,
  with weekly bâtonnage of the fine lees depending on the vintage.
