Description
Precision, finesse and energy from limestone Château Pavie Macquin
In this vintage, the estate opted resolutely for refinement over muscle, and the result is a wine with a remarkably energetic freshness, fine tannins and beautiful depth.
A characterful terroir, expertly expressed
A blend of 84% Merlot , 15% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon , harvested from October 3 to 8, 2024, this wine exudes the character of its terroir: chalky soils on asteria limestone , worked with an eye for tradition and biodiversity. The grapes are vinified per plot in concrete vats , with gravity maceration, followed by maturation on fine lees for 16 to 20 months in barriques (50% new wood).
Aromatic complexity and fine structure
From the first impression of the nose, this wine shows its class: notes of blueberries, sour plums, black cherries and floral accents of iris and violets, subtly framed by graphite, sandalwood and spices. In the mouth it is at the same time juicy and tense , with a core of pure fruit, fresh acidity and chalky tannins that provide grip without harshness. The whole exudes calm and control. A wine that subtly lets its power speak.
A wine with a story and a long future: Pavie Macquin 2024
The Château Pavie Macquin 2024 knows like no other how to find the balance between depth and lightness, structure and suppleness. The choice to harvest everything in October paid off: this wine combines the natural tension of the year with an impressive aromatic precision. The alcohol content of 13% underlines its freshness, while the pH of 3.35 ensures lively tension.
Already seductive in its youthful energy, this wine will only really begin to blossom from 2029 onwards . Its delicate balance and structured freshness give it the potential to age well beyond 2045. A true ambassador of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau, and one of the quiet stars of the 2024 vintage.

(Château Pavie-Macquin St.-Emilion 2024)
What a bright, racy wine showing beautiful chalky tannins and mid-palate fruit of good density. Minerally, with blue and red fruit. Taut on the palate, with a medium to full body supported by tense, chalky tannins. The long and really succulent finish goes on for a while. Precise. 84% merlot, 15% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. - Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor

The 2024 Pavie Macquin is positively gorgeous. Silky, layered and voluptuous, the 2024 is so impressive right out of the gate. Plush contours wrap around a core of purplish fruit, lavender, licorice, spice, menthol and chocolate. All the signatures of this site come through loud and clear. Savory and floral notes supported by clean veins of salinity extend the persistent finish. Pavie Macquin shows what was possible in 2024. The choice to harvest everything in October (from the 3rd to the 8th) paid off big time. Aging is in French oak, with about 15% in larger 500-liter barrels, 45% new wood overall. Tasted three times.
