Description
Origin and character of the Beau-Séjour Bécot
Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2024 is an expressive and elegantly defined wine from the heart of Saint-Émilion. This historic Grand Cru Classé estate, known for its chalky terroir on the Saint-Émilion plateau, delivers with this vintage a wine bursting with precision, finesse and liveliness. In a year that offered both challenges and opportunities, the team achieved an exceptional result.
Grapes and vinification
The wine is composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc. The harvest took place from September 25 to October 4, with loose bunches ensuring a healthy and complete maturation. The wine was aged in a mix of barrels: 55% new French oak, 15% once used, and the rest in large foudres and amphorae. This combination provides a subtle woody impact and allows the terroir to speak to the full.
Tasting note Beau-Séjour Bécot 2024
In the glass, Beau-Séjour Bécot 2024 shows a deep purple color. The nose is intense and aromatic with notes of blueberry, black cherry, lavender, rose petals, menthol and licorice. On the palate, the wine is silky and layered, with fine, ripe tannins, lively acidity and a mineral touch that adds elegance and tension. The finish is long, fresh and slightly salty, which emphasizes the definition and class of this wine.
The increased role of Cabernet Franc in the blend gives this vintage extra aromatic lift and textural refinement. Beau-Séjour Bécot 2024 is not a wine of raw power, but of detail, balance and understated beauty. It is a wine that makes an immediate impression and lends itself perfectly to cellaring. Ideal to enjoy between 2029 and 2052.

A blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Beau-Séjour Bécot was picked in late September. Clusters were open rather than compact, lessening botrytis pressure, making it easier to wait to attain full maturity. Offering up aromas of dark berries, violets, rose petals and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, polished and layered, with beautifully refined tannin, integrated acidity and a long, aromatic finish. Once again, this impeccably managed estate has delivered a terrific performance in challenging conditions.

From: 2024 Bordeaux En Primeur: The Razor’s Edge (Apr 2025)
The 2024 Beauséjour is a wine that perfectly embodies the style of the year. A Saint-Émilion with no hard edges and exquisite balance, Beauséjour is an absolute delight. Dark-toned fruit, lavender, menthol and espresso open first, followed by a kick of savory Franc overtones that lend energy. Fine, polished tannins support the subtle yet understated finish. Beauséjour is one of the more delicate 2024s in Saint-Émilion, but there is no lack of depth. The blend is 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, with 7% press wines.
