Description
The Terlaner Cuvée from Cantina Terlano is a classic white wine from the Alto Adige region of northern Italy. This cuvée blends three traditional grape varieties: 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay, and 10% Sauvignon Blanc.
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand, with a gentle pressing of whole bunches. Slow fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks is followed by aging: 6 to 7 months on the fine lees, 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in large wooden barrels.
Colour: Bright pale yellow with green nuances.
Nose: Aromas of green apple and white peach, with fine nuances of lemon balm and mint.
Palate: Strong peach notes give the wine a lively character. The versatile, well-structured palate is a combination of freshness and minerality, with a lingering finish.
This wine pairs perfectly with traditional regional dishes such as Terlano wine soup, raw white asparagus salad, pizza and pasta with tomato sauce, focaccia with rosemary, or penne all'arrabbiata. It also pairs wonderfully with Parmesan cheese and fresh pecorino, South Tyrolean dishes like bacon dumplings or sausage with sauerkraut, and with turkey breast with root vegetables or a fine veal roast.

From: Come Hell or High Water: Trentino-Alto Adige’s 2023 and 2024 Vintages (Dec 2025)
The 2024 Terlaner Cuvée is understated in the glass, wafting up with notes of sliced pear, white flowers and raw almonds. It balances zesty acidity with mineral-infused pit fruits and spice over a wave of silken textures. This echoes with inner florals as a subtle citrus twang adds dimension and a hint of green melon fades.

Cantina Terlano is known for its exceptional quality and encyclopedic portfolio that includes every key grape variety in Alto Adige. As a co-op winery with 43 growers working 190 hectares, Terlano's continued excellence from vintage to vintage is remarkable. Their wines compete with the absolute best of the region, in large part due to their close relationships with growers and strict rules. Touring the vineyards with the director of sales and marketing, Klaus Gasser, I noticed that not a single vine seemed diseased, nor were there any empty spaces where vines had died. Both are common in vineyards around the world. Gasser explained, “All our growers are incentivized to remove and replace any diseased vines as quickly as possible. We pay for quality, not quantity.”
Gasser explained how Alto-Adige differs greatly from surrounding regions because of the mountains and shifting air currents through the valleys. As a result, the team at Terlano found 2023 to be a more relaxed year, which shows in the wines’ balance. However, they weren’t as lucky in 2024. “Two thousand twenty-four was a hard vintage, with botrytis causing many problems,” said Gasser. Heavy rains during flowering, a short summer and a cool, wet September created uneven ripening and led to a complicated harvest. In the end, yields were down between 20 and 30%. The Cantina Terlano team also makes the Cantina Andriano range. Both portfolios are fantastic.
