Only a few places in the world can claim to have everything a wine lover desires. Boschendal Estate is one such unique destination. This magnificent winery is located an hour's drive from Cape Town, in the picturesque Groot Drakenstein Valley, on the edge of Franschhoek.

The Sauvignon from Boschendal's 1685 series undoubtedly belongs, along with the Chardonnay and Shiraz, to one of the most popular wines in the Netherlands. This is certainly not only due to the impressive estate, the beautiful restaurant, or the famous picnics for those who have been able to visit, but also because Boschendal possesses a style that—with all due respect—is a crowd-pleaser, and we mean this in a very positive light. They know how to create a tone, certainly within the 1685 series, with a balance where everything simply fits. By now, ordering a bottle of Sauvignon with the blue capsule or cap is enough to know that the Boschendal 1685 Sauvignon Blanc Grande Cuvée is being referred to.

This Boschendal 1685 Sauvignon Blanc Grande Cuvée is a Sauvignon Blanc with a small percentage of Semillon (92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Semillon), aged entirely in stainless steel tanks. This gives the Sauvignon the freshness that is so necessary in this warmer climate compared to, for example, the Loire. In the glass, the wine has a light straw-yellow color. On the nose, we detect notes of herbs and tropical fruit, with aromas of minerals, chalk, and green figs. These complex aromas lead to a creamy, harmonious taste with a long, mineral-rich finish.

FUN FACT: The wine is stored in our climate-controlled Wine Warehouse, and if you come to pick up the wine, you often receive a nice discount.
