Description
This wine is an excellent example of Nebiollo made from younger vines 10-25 years old, and exhibits purity of fruit characteristics. The vineyards are spread across the area and therefore have different climatic conditions, so the grapes are all harvested at different times. This varied range of locations and picking times gives the wine an unmistakable complexity. Fermentation for each plot is carried out separately and aged in stainless steel tanks to maintain varietal purity in the wine. From vintage to vintage, the percentage of the plot aged in neutral oak varies - for the most part it is usually a small amount.
The nose of the Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo is lively and bursting with aromas of rose buds, violets, dark fruit and mint. On the palate, the notes on the nose translate and are accompanied by earthy mineral notes. A wine that can be drunk now and has the potential to mature.

VAJR
Aldo Vajra has always been a bit rebellious. A good thing too, because this characteristic has led to this beautiful winery with its authentic wines. The vineyards of Vajra are located northwest of the town of Barolo and have been organically farmed from the start. The high altitude of the vineyards (the Bricco delle Viole is one of the highest vineyards in Piedmont) ensures high temperature differences between day and night. The grapes ripen slowly and fully, giving the wines a beautiful finesse and elegance. The relatively cool climate in this area has caused many winemakers to harvest the Dolcetto grape, because this grape needs warmth to fully develop. But the Vajras still make beautiful rosé and red from this grape. Read more under the tab: Winery

G.D. Vajra is a testament to the harmonious relationship between terroir and the rich legacy of a passionate winemaking family. Situated in the renowned Barolo appellation, this enchanting estate has been crafting exceptional wines for generations, capturing the essence of the land and the profound stories that shaped their journey.
The cornerstone of G.D. Vajra's wine making philosophy lies in the concept of terroir. Every bottle that bears their name is an expression of the unique characteristics of the vineyards and the distinct microclimates that bless the Langhe region. From the ethereal vineyard of Bricco delle Viole to the enchanting slopes of Fossati and Ravera, each parcel of land is meticulously tended, allowing the grapes to mature and develop their individual personalities.
The Vajra family, led by the visionary Aldo Vajra, has been nurturing vineyards and crafting wines since the 1970s. Aldo made his first organic wines at the age of 18 and became one of the first wineries to replant the forgotten grape variety Freisa. He continued to innovate with the plantings of less traditional varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Noir. The Vajra family to this day remain steadfast in their commitment to sustainable practices, seeking to preserve the natural biodiversity of their vineyards for generations to come.
The Vajra family's winemaking journey is a testament to their unwavering love for their heritage. With a blend of tradition and innovation, they have honed their craft over the years, producing wines that carry the spirit of their ancestors. Whether it's the iconic Barolo, the elegant Dolcetto, or the vibrant Barbera, each bottle is a reflection of the Vajra family's deep-rooted passion and dedication.
