Description
The brothers Didier and Denis (and his son Bruno) Larue have their domaine in Gamay, a hamlet northeast of Saint-Aubin. The vineyards are therefore 'on the good side' of Saint-Aubin, namely on the side of Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet. In addition to Saint-Aubin, the domaine also produces wines from Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet, appellations that appeal more to the imagination, because the best white wines in the world are made there. The family has owned vineyards for several generations, but Didier and Denis have decided to start bottling themselves. In a short time they have acquired a very good reputation with an honest, pure, teroir-oriented style at relatively good prices. The vineyard management is conscientious: short pruning and green harvesting take place, so that the yield per hectare is low. Few pesticides are used and the produce is picked by hand.
The aligoté grapes for the Domaine Larue Vieilles Vignes Bourgone Aligoté are located in the regional and municipal appellation area around Saint-Aubin. Facing east, at an altitude of 380 metres, there is a first vineyard of 50 ares 83 on white marl on a hilltop on the edge of La Rochepot. On the east, at an altitude of 330 metres, there is another vineyard of 46 ares on a plateau of shallow red earth. These old vines of the Aligoté variety (from 30 to 70 years old) are planted at a density of 10,000 vines/ha over an area of 1ha12 (11200m²).
After carefully checking the ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in small crates. The grapes are lightly crushed. The juice flows from a pneumatic press. The alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel barrels, followed by maturation on fine lees. The malolactic fermentation takes place early, so that bottling in the spring is possible. This Bourgogne Aligoté has a light straw yellow color with notes of white flowers and white fruit on the nose with a touch of saltiness and some chalky touch (mineral). On the palate, this beautiful Domaine Larue Vieilles Vignes Bourgone Aligoté is fresh and attractive, wonderfully drinkable, fruity and very elegant
