Description
The Tenuta Guado al Tasso estate is located near Bolgheri, in the Maremma region on the Tuscan coast. Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato takes its name from a Robin Hood-like figure who lived in the Bolgheri area. Antinori showcases the area's potential with this wine, a very rich yet elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. An exquisite Supertuscan wine.
This intense ruby-red wine has a red blackberry aroma, is slightly spicy, and offers aromatic hints of oak. The taste is very smooth, pleasant, and has a lovely, long, full finish. After the grapes are harvested in mid-September, the Merlot and Syrah grapes are lightly pre-fermented at a temperature below 10°C (50°F). Fermentation then continues for 10 to 15 days in stainless steel tanks, at a temperature not exceeding 28°C (82°F). The wine then continues to age in both American and French oak barrels until the end of the year. Just before bottling, the blend is made and then bottle-aged for approximately eight months in the estate's cellars.
A delicious Tuscan top wine for a festive dinner when you have plenty of time to enjoy its rich flavor, always receiving high praise from the international wine press, but this also comes from the Antinori family.
The Guado al Tasso estate is located in the small but prestigious Bolgheri appellation on the Tuscan coast, in the upper Maremma region, about 100 kilometers southwest of Florence. The region boasts a global reputation as a benchmark for international high-end wines such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and, of course, Guado al Tasso. Guado al Tasso's vineyards consist primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino grapes; the latter cultivated with both white and red varieties. They enjoy a mild climate thanks to the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea; the constant breezes soften the summer heat, and the harsh winter conditions cleanse the air and provide a high level of sunlight and radiation.

The Marchesi Antinori 2023 Bolgheri Rosso Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato is an easy blend of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 2023 vintage reveals a more powerful and riper character compared to 2022. Baked flavors do come through in this latest vintage with prune and cooked plum. But you also get added sweetness from the barrel aging that imparts dustings of cinnamon and nutmeg. The tannins are soft and accessible.
