Description
The Capitel Croce comes from a unique vineyard. In this case, the one that produces the most powerful and concentrated grapes. The vineyard is located near the village of Monteforte, near the Croce altar at the top of the Zoppega mountain. The vineyard covers 5 hectares and has a grassy subsoil. Approximately 45 hectoliters of juice are produced per hectare. Two harvests are scheduled at this vineyard to ensure only the ripest fruit is picked. The bunches are transported in small crates to minimize damage.
Anselmi considers these grapes eminently suitable for oak aging. The wine matures for eight months in used oak, followed by another nine months in bottles. This gives the wine the complexity of a grand dry white wine, with considerable length and power. An impressive and, above all, powerful wine, but certainly not a carbon copy of well-known oak-aged Chardonnays. This unique character lies in the strength of this exceptional wine. The wines have a aging potential of fifteen years.
The Anselmi Capitel Croce is the top dry wine from Anselmi and has received 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso (maximum score). In the glass, the wine has a sparkling golden yellow color with aromas of vanilla, toasted bread, passion fruit, and pineapple. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with a long, slightly honeyed finish, featuring peach and pear.

Roberto Anselmi
Veneto White Capitel Croce 2022
A fresh, lithe white, with a minerally overtone of smoke and stone, showing good focus to the flavors of pineapple, yellow plum, pickled ginger and chive blossoms. Crisp finish. Drink now through 2027. 3,333 cases made, 500 cases imported.

Roberto Anselmi is one of those who strictly adheres to the ground rules. In fact, he's one of the producers who promotes others to do the same. Anselmi sees it as the importance of the region (Veneto, Northern Italy) that the overall quality of the wines improves. Not an easy mission. Where others have given way to the planting of the worldwide so popular chardonnay, Anselmi limits itself to a modest five percent.
Anselmi is also one of the few to have more vines in its vineyards than officially prescribed: 5000 to 7000 per hectare. The much lower yield per stick as a result yields wines that are fuller and more powerful in character. In addition, all his poles are on the better slopes, so in the Classico region. The quality of the wines starts in the vineyards, Anselmi knows better than anyone. Quality is therefore what makes Roberto Anselmi. A great winemaker who practices his profession with fanaticism.
