Viña Casa Marín was founded in 2000 by winemaker Maria Luz Marín, who had one thing in mind: making 'terroir wines' in Chile. Her project was innovative and daring, but she is now loved and praised and an example for many others in Chile! María Luz is the first female winemaker and winery in Chile. After graduating from the University of Chile with a degree in Agronomy and Winemaking, Maria Luz worked in several wineries, not least of which she worked for Romanee Contie. She has successfully positioned her fine delicate wines in top markets and among international critics, where they stand out for their high quality. Vina Casa Marin is currently one of the top wines from Chile and is an example of beautiful, elegant cool-climate wines.

This Cartagena from the San Antoine Valley is a cool-climate Pinot Noir and therefore looks much more like the old world Pinot Noirs such as from Burgundy. The aging takes place in used French oak barrels. A wood tone is therefore hardly emitted. In the glass the wine is fresh light red and in the nose we smell a lot of fruit: strawberries, red berries and rhubarb. In the taste we find ripe red fruit, sweet tannins and a lively freshness; the aftertaste is spicy.

Viña Casa Marín was founded in 2000 by winemaker Maria Luz Marín, who had one thing in mind: making 'terroir wines' in Chile. Her project was innovative and daring, but she is now loved and praised and an example for many others in Chile! For several years, María Luz has been assisted by her son Felipe, a winemaker who gives shape to his mother's dream with the same passion and drive. Today the domain has 50 hectares of vineyard divided into 38 different plots. Much of the vineyard is located on limestone and granite soils. These conditions result in vines that can produce superior quality fruit. All grapes are harvested by hand, only when they are perfectly ripe. Due to the great diversity in terroirs and grape varieties, coupled with the cool climate, the harvest takes a very long time; from the beginning of March to the end of May! All harvested grapes are vinified separately in small vats.
