Description
Château Siran is the result of a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which reflects the identity of its terroir. The relatively high percentage of Petit Verdot provides a spicy note that enhances the unique character of Siran's wines. Both powerful and subtle, Siran wines always seek a balance between the softness of the tannins, the intensity of the fruit and a persistent freshness. Siran wines are known for their aging potential, even long aging that will delight the most patient.
The 2022 Chateau Siran is a blend of Merlot 46%, Cabernet Sauvignon 44%, 9% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc 1%. In the glass the wine has a deep garnet-purple color. They call it the new 1982 vintage. The grapes are harvested from vines that can sometimes go back to 1920. All grapes are harvested by hand and also sorted by hand. The grapes were harvested from September 13 to September 30. The wine was allowed to mature for 12 months on French oak (35% new) with a small toast.
FACT: Under the tab: Attachment you will find the official factsheet and we will send it to you digitally when you order this wine. Also worth mentioning that we buy the (Bordeaux) wines directly and never through intermediaries because then we do not know which journeys the wine has made and how it has been treated. The wines come from the cellars of the Chateau directly to our conditioned Warehouse in Dordrecht where all our wines are stored.

The 2022 Siran is a real success, bursting with aromas of sweet berries, cassis, licorice and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate. This charming, succulent Margaux is sure to be one of the commune's better value propositions.

Country : France
Region : Bordeaux
Vintage : 2022
Score : 95-96
Attractive berry fruit here with spices and orange peel undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, toned and steady with compact tannin structure. Deep. Long finish with stony minerality. Most structured yet fine Siran I have tasted for a long time.

From: 2022 Bordeaux En Primeur: Balance Imbalance (May 2023)
The 2022 Siran is one of the best wines I have tasted from the property. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, Siran is exceptionally polished. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, chalk and white pepper all grace this exquisite Margaux. Superb.

From: 2022 Bordeaux in Bottle: Living in the Present (Jan 2025)
The 2022 Siran is every bit as impressive in bottle as it was en primeur. Ample, rich and imposing, the 2022 has a lot to offer. A blast of dark-toned fruit, new leather, licorice and chocolate makes quite a statement. Siran is quite the extrovert. While it is not the most complex Margaux out there, its immediacy and charm are both notable.

Although its location, terroir and reputation largely deserved to be included in the 1855 classification, the Toulouse-Lautrec family, owners of Siran, Legitimists and true to their family tradition, were invited to enter into this "Bonapartist classification". are included, rejected. † Once classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel next to the castles of Phélan-Ségur, Haut-Marbuzet, Chasse-Spleen, Château Siran now charts its own unique and unique path towards excellence.
The family story began in the mid-18th century, when this complete, harmonious estate, rich in biodiversity, seduced Léo Barbier with undeniable charm. The 17 hectare vineyard, in a single block, in the heart of the largest terroirs of the Médoc. Léo Barbier, a wine merchant from Bordeaux, recognized the qualities of this jewel. After it was acquired on 14 January 1859 from Jeanne-Adèle, Countess of Toulouse-Lautrec, he decided to develop and embellish the property.
His two daughters married the brothers Paul and Alexandre Sollberg in 1866. But the two sons-in-law went bankrupt between 1883-85 and hurriedly left to live in Argentina. In 1885, the family called on a cousin, Fréderic Miailhe, son of Elie Miailhe and Lovely Sollberg, to manage Siran with a Sollberg son-in-law, Marcel Mortier. Fréderic Miailhe, a wine broker, fell in love with Siran and devoted himself to it. So much so that in 1915 he bought back his aunts Sollberg's shares. We are deeply indebted to him, especially for the still delicious 1918 vintage.
Château Siran is located in the village of Labarde in the extreme south of the Margaux appellation. Siran has 25 hectares of vineyard on a large plateau of gravel. The vineyards are planted with cabernet sauvignon (50%), merlot (30%), petit verdot (12%) and cabernet franc (8%).
Named after Château Siran, the main wine is the result of a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, reflecting the identity of its terroir. The relatively high percentage of petit verdot provides a spicy note that enhances the unique character of Siran's wines.
