Description
On the eve of the 1997 harvest, Jean-Hubert Delon bought Château Nénin, which had belonged to his cousins, the Despujol family, since 1847. A major restructuring was immediately carried out.
The pruning and trellising methods were revised, the land was drained, the vines were replanted or uprooted, and the equipment was modernized. The maturation and storage cellars were expanded and completely refitted, and air conditioning was added. A new barrel room was built, equipped with the most modern equipment, completing the total transformation of the property.
The vineyards of Château Nénin grow on a single plot of land, with the exception of one parcel. Nevertheless, the Grand Vin is only produced on the best plots, 8 hectares of the largest clay-gravel terroirs located on the Pomerol plateau. The adjacent plots below are intended for the production of the second wine, Fugue de Nénin. As a result, the terroir encompasses the many and diverse soils that characterize Pomerol. It is mainly composed of Oligocene deposits covered with alluvial gravel formations from the Dordogne; siliceous clay and gravel, quartz, granite, iron deposits and basalt pebbles. The vineyards of Château Nénin grow on the large clay-gravel terroirs of the Pomerol plateau.
The Nénin 2022 was picked from September 1st to 23rd, a relatively long harvest. The nose holds black cherry and boysenberry. Generous and bold. The palate is medium-bodied with dark chocolate and espresso-laced black fruits, grainy tannins and well-judged acidity. It is a blend of 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Franc with an alcohol content of 14%. They work with 38% new French barrels for the Grand Vin.
FACT: Under the tab: Attachment you will find the official factsheet and we will send it to you digitally when you order this wine. Also worth mentioning that we buy the (Bordeaux) wines directly and never through intermediaries because then we do not know which journeys the wine has made and how it has been treated. The wines come from the cellars of the Chateau directly to our conditioned Warehouse in Dordrecht where all our wines are stored .

A blend of 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Nenin delivers aromas of cherries, violets, sweet berries and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy palate that's rich, succulent and seamless, its ample core of fruit largely concealing its sweet, powdery tannins.

The 2022 Nénin is terrific. Pliant, rich and creamy in the glass, the 2022 is a formidable example of the year. Soft, plush contours wrap around a core of red/purplish berry fruit. Touches of blood orange, mint, cinnamon and rose petal lend nuance to this sensual, alluring Pomerol from the Delon family. The 2022 is beautifully done.
