2022 Château de la Grille Chinon Rouge
How does this wine taste?
How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.
The drying, grippy feel on your gums and tongue, as with strong tea. It comes from the skins and seeds of black grapes and from oak, and softens with age.
How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.
How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

Log inThe homogeneity of the terroir combined with the highest standards makes Château de La Grille "the exception of Chinon". This wine, immediately recognizable by its bottle, a replica of an 18th-century champagne bottle, sets the tone for the style and complexity of this “luxury Chinon”.
The Château de la Grille Rouge is a 100% Cabernet Franc! After aging for 15 months in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks (50/50), the wine ages for another 2 years in the bottle before release.
On the nose, generous red and black fruit, especially fresh figs and blackberries, interspersed with notes of toasted wood, ink, vanilla, and some spice. On the palate, spicy yet round and juicy black fruit with a long, complex finish and a very striking freshness. A great wine with great aging potential. Top quality from the Loire.

Wine features
