Domaine Alvina Pernot is a relatively new but much-discussed estate in Puligny-Montrachet. Alvina Pernot, who comes from a well-known winemaking family in the village, runs the estate with her husband, Philippe Abadie. Thanks to their meticulous approach and strong focus on terroir purity, the estate has quickly built an excellent reputation.

The vineyards are nestled in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, where chalky soils and a cool continental climate produce wines with tension, freshness, and pure structure. The estate's style focuses on precision, finesse, and minimal use of new oak to express the terroir's natural characteristics as clearly as possible.

Les Pucelles: one of the most refined Premier Cru vineyards

Les Pucelles is one of Puligny-Montrachet's most prestigious Premier Cru parcels. The vineyard borders directly on the iconic Grand Crus and is known for wines that combine elegance, tension, and exceptional refinement. The soil consists of calcareous clay with a high rock content, which creates a pronounced minerality and a layered structure.

Domaine Alvina Pernot works with old vines, strict yields, and a gentle fermentation in Les Pucelles. This results in a wine with depth and a clear imprint of the terroir. Year after year, the plot produces wines with a refined aromatic structure and an impressively long flavor profile.

2022 vintage, vinification and maturation

The 2022 vintage in Puligny-Montrachet brought a generous yield of healthy, well-ripened grapes. Harvest began on August 28th. The grapes were picked entirely by hand and carefully sorted. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and wooden barrels ranging in age from one to four years. Maturation lasted approximately eleven to twelve months, a relatively short period due to the limited space in the estate's new cellar.

According to the estate, the focus in 2022 was again entirely on maintaining freshness, tension, and a clear expression of terroir. The limited use of new oak contributes to the wine's precision and keeps the aromatic profile clear and pure.

The 2022 Les Pucelles is described as restrained on the nose, with notes of crushed limestone, crisp apple, flowing mountain water, and a subtle hint of spice. In the glass, the wine gradually develops and gains intensity. The palate is concentrated, with light tropical nuances of apricot and passion fruit, followed by a long, spicy, and precise finish. Color, aroma and taste of the 2022 Les Pucelles

The wine displays a bright, light golden color. The aroma opens with citrus, apple, floral notes, and a distinct chalky freshness. With further aeration, nuances of ripe orchard fruit and refined spicy notes emerge.

The wine is medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a soft attack and a layered structure. There's a beautiful balance between ripe fruit, lively acidity, and clean minerality. The structure is precise and harmonious, with sufficient concentration without becoming heavy. The long finish reveals refined herbs and a chalky tension.

The wine already offers elegance, but will continue to deepen in the coming years. Its aging potential extends to at least 2048.
