Bürklin-Wolf owns vineyards in the most famous "Lagen" of the Mittelhaardt. The company owns vineyards in different Layers (vineyards) in the towns of Forst, Deidesheim, Ruppertsberg and Wachenheim. Bürklin-Wolf uses the Burgundian model of the quality pyramid for the classification of dry Riesling wines. In this model, terroir, yield and degree of ripeness of the grapes are taken into account, so Grand Cru (GC) and Premier Cru are used. Bürklin-Wolf is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter) but nevertheless does not use the term Grosses Gewächs.
The Goldbächel vineyard is a top location in Wachenheim, 4.3 ha in size, with the share of Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Bis is 3 ha in size. The southern slope ensures optimal sun exposure, warming the yellow and red sandstone gravel soil. At a depth of 1.80 m (6 feet) there is a 1.20 m (4 feet) thick layer of alluvial rock. Here the roots of the vines are very well supplied with water and minerals. The riesling grapes for the Bürklin-Wolf Wachenheimer Goldbächel Premier Cru are hand-picked and after spontaneous fermentation in large, old oak barrels, the wine is aged for 10 months in the same barrels. This Premier Cru has intense floral aromas. Great harmony of fruit and juicy acidity, subtle mineral undertones.
The wine is fantastic with fresh mussels, lobster and crab meat or with trout. The Riesling has a very long, exciting aftertaste and this topper is also made from biodynamically grown grapes. Nice drink or put away for 20 or more years - whatever you want
