How does this wine taste?

How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.

How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.

How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

The Tokyo Gomez-Rojo La Malpagada is a white wine from the Ribera del Duero region. Made from the Albillo grape, the authorized white grape variety for a white Ribera Duero wine, according to the appellation's regulations. White wines from the Ribera del Duero region are very rare but exceptionally beautiful. The Albillo Mayor grapes come from small, very old vineyards spread across the provinces of Soria and Burgos. The 2021 vintage was a top vintage in the Ribera del Duero region. The grapes were fermented in concrete tanks for over six months and then aged on the lees in new 225-liter French oak barrels. Fifteen percent of the total volume is fermented in barrels that come into contact with the skins, which explains the golden color.

The Tokyo Gomez-Rojo La Malpagada has an attractive golden color in the glass, thanks in part to its barrel aging and skin contact. This white Ribera del Duero has an aromatic and complex nose, with primary aromas of stone fruit, particularly peach, but also more complex, fermentative, and evolving aromas, such as bakery aromas, brioche, and sweet honey notes. On the palate, it is creamy with plenty of volume, yet with very polished tannins and acidity that gives it balance and invites continued enjoyment. The wine can age beautifully, developing a different, more complex character with a slight sherry note.

ABOUT CASA ROJO

"THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE" LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo, they make wines that José Luis and Laura identify with. They are fortunate and privileged to be able to produce in the regions where they have their roots and admire the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and Monastrell in their Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, they have also added unique white grapes from Ribera del Galicia, such as Verdejo, Albariño, and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear: "A wine should be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, and the local climate."

Casa Rojo has been operating since 2010, making it a relatively young company. However, its wines are now available in over 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and more, and demand exceeds supply. This isn't surprising, as the quality of the wines, the stories behind them, and the presentation are truly unique.

"LOVE WHAT YOU DO. DO WHAT YOU LOVE" JOSÉ LUIS GÓMEZ -Making great wines takes time and a lot of dedication. Continuous improvement, continuous evolution and the search for perfection in the vineyard and then in the winery, is the only way. Only if you love your work can you show this dedication and passion. “THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO. At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the good fortune and luxury of being able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have also been added, such as the Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear. "A wine should be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate."

Casa Rojo has been active since 2010, so it is a fairly young company, but now the wines of Casa Rojo are available in more than 40 countries, including USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc and the demand exceeds the supply. Not surprising because the quality of the wines, the stories behind the wine and the livery are nothing short of unique.
