Description
After working alongside his father for several years, Antoine has been officially in charge of this prestigious property since 2007. Although Francois has been enjoying his retirement for several years, he can still be found in the vineyards and cellar almost every day to assist his son. With the arrival of Antoine, the style of the wines has changed slightly. A few minor changes during winemaking have made them more accessible and refined, without losing their character. Antoine prefers to work with finer lies than his father. He also bottles the wine in April/May of the second year following the harvest. These are just details, but the quality of the wines has further increased.
Les Epenotes was the first parcel to be awarded premier cru status in Beaune. This plot of land, with vines between 65 and 80 years old, was planted by Antoine's grandfather. Bordering Pommard, this is a more powerfully structured Beaune than many red wines in the appellation. A wine with wild savory notes, the 30% whole bunch pressed fruit boasts aromas of wild alpine fruit and provides extra body and breadth on the palate. Very round tannins and the dark spices in the aftertaste provide a further burst of unctuously sweet ripe fruit. The 2021 vintage is packed with spicy, red and even black fruit aromas. This wine has fantastic vibrancy, with the purity and depth of the fruit leaving a lasting impression on the palate.

Aromas of ripe berries, spices, sweet soil tones, smoke and incense preface the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Epenottes, a medium to full-bodied, supple and layered wine that's sensual and enveloping, with terrific concentration, lively acids and a saline finish. It was cropped at a mere 14 hectoliters per hectare.

The 2020 Beaune Epenottes 1er Cru has quite a dark fruited nose, black plum and bilberry, a light marine scent emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins.Elegant and refined, there is some very attractive, slightly tart and vibrant red fruit on the finish with real length. Superb.

This winery is one of the most stylish and consistent wineries to be found in Burgundy and the wines of this winery are usually paired with the best Meursalts. Other famous wineries such as Coche and Ravenau see Jobard as the ultimate example when it comes to meursault wines.

These are only details, but the quality of the wines has increased further. Nothing has changed with regard to the work in the vineyards. The Jobards work long hours in the vine. Their 5 hectares are severely pruned and they only work with unproductive varieties to keep yields low. In the cellar, Jobard gives his wine time. After slow fermentation (Jobard's cellars are particularly cold), using only the natural yeast cultures, the wines are left to mature for a long time. The wines are bottled without filtering after about 18 months. Jobards wines are concentrated but not thick, the wood used is highly dosed and the wines have nice acidity and lots of minerality makes them great to rijpen.Alle wines from winery Jobard be in a vessel old and spend a long sur lie in the cellars from the winery in Meursault.
