Description
EN PRIMEUR - AVAILABLE DECEMBER 2024 - THIS IS A MAGNUM EDITION
This top Spanish wine is produced by Teso La Monja winery, an exclusive winery, one of the beautiful wineries of Hermanos Eguren. The 2020 is a very limited edition of 944 numbered bottles and of the 2020 they are only releasing 694 bottles and only 60 magnums. The rest goes into the Eguren family library and will be released gradually over the next 20 years (at much higher prices). The extremely old vineyard (>160 years) has a very low yield, but the quality is unprecedentedly high and connoisseurs know what a fantastic wine this is and what the prices do for this wine over the years. The wine comes from a cool vineyard of only 1.8 HA on which there are extremely old vines (150 years and older - pre-phylloxera) that give an incredibly high ripeness. The bunches are picked and selected per grape and destemmed and crushed manually by a team of 55 very experienced people who do this every year. The wine ferments in an open-topped oak barrel followed by malolactic fermentation in an egg-shaped oak barrel. It matures in three brand new Bordeaux barrels for approximately 24 months. This top wine from Teso La Monja has an unprecedented amount of layers. With every sniff and sip something different emerges such as herbs, smoke, toast, balsamic notes of incense and cigars. Red and black fruit and oak also return in the mouth with an amazing aftertaste. This wine is only sold EN primeur and only in the top years. The offer will then be in spring with delivery at the end of the year.
Fact: There is a lot of messing around with cult wines these days, especially with this wine. We are the official importer and you can check via the Teso la Monja website whether you have an official bottle provided by an importer. You can then be sure that you do not accidentally have a counterfeit or refilled bottle. You can do this at: http://www.sierracantabria.com/en/wineries/teso-la-monja/teso-la-monja-wine/
The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking. Click here for address.

The Spanish winery Teso La Monja is located in the Toro. The winery heralds a new era for the Eguren family in DO Toro, a land from which she fell in love with the capacity of the old pre-phylloxera vines. Teso La Monja was founded in 2007. Wines that bring the potential of the Tinta de Toro with elegance, finesse and freshness, shared by all wines of the Eguren family attributes. The Almirez, Victorino and also the great Romanico (unprecedented good value for money in our opinion) are invariably 90+ Parker and Penin wines. Not surprising knowing that the Eguren family is also behind the Alabaster cult wine.
The Teso La Monja winery is located on north-facing loam soils with gravel on the surface, providing longer vegetative cycles for achieving balanced, powerful yet elegant wines that convey the maximum potential of soil minerality.
