2020 Chateau Pesquie Quintessence Rouge BIO

The 18th century Provencal house is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The current owners Frédéric Chaudière and his brother Alexandre (winemaker) run Château Pesquié together. Ecologically, 72 hectares of vineyards are cultivated around the municipality of Mormoiron. Thanks to the unique location, the varied soil and the right grape varieties, top quality wines are made here. Both brothers are currently seen as pioneers in the Ventoux region and this is underlined by the many appreciations in the international wine press.

Made from Syrah (80%) and Grenache (20%), this jaw-dropping wine is only made in the best years and comes from terraced vineyards on south-facing slopes, located in the northern part of the appellation. The sticks are on average more than 50 years old. The wine is aged for 12 months in wooden barrels (50% new French oak and 50% is one to two years old). The Quintessence is (even) fuller and more intense than the Terrasses Rouge. The wine has a bright deep red color with raspberries (Grenache), licorice, leather, tobacco and peppery spices in the scent. A hint of eucalyptus is very pleasant. Soft taste full of ripe black cherries and extremely elegant. The finish is particularly long and powerful. What a wealth! The Quintessence has received no less than (91-93)/100 Parker points.
