Description
Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a wine estate in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, owned by the Vauthier family since 1921, who also own the prestigious Château Ausone. The estate covers 7 hectares and produces approximately 2,500 cases of wine annually. The vineyards are adjacent to Château Ausone, with a similar terroir, clayey limestone, which contributes to the freshness and minerality of the wine. The wine is a blend of mainly (80%) Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose, the 2020 Moulin St Georges has aromas of cherries, flowers, espresso, leaves and plums. On the palate, the wine is elegant and medium-bodied with a soft, fresh and silky texture. A hint of saltiness, chocolate and mint on the finish, accompanied by elegant, bright red fruits. Jane Anson (Decanter): 94 points. She praises the wine for its deep berry fruit, freshness and juiciness, with notes of liquorice and rosemary.

The 2020 Moulin St Georges is more marked by its élevage than its brilliant 2019 predecessor (a wine I purchased for my own cellar). Offering up aromas of plums, cherries and spices mingled with prominent notes of coconut and vanilla pod, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and racy, reflecting its west-facing limestone terroir, concluding with a saline, somewhat oak-inflected finish that is likely to become better integrated with a bit of bottle age.

Very pure fruit with black currant, raspberry, orange peel and flower aromas and flavors. It’s medium- to full-bodied. Velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Dark chocolate. Fresh acidity. Drinkable, but will age very, very well.
