Description
Château Belá is a historic winery located in the south of Slovakia, near the Danube in the Štúrovo region. The origins of viticulture on this estate date back to Roman times. In 2001, the winery was revived through a collaboration between German winemaker Egon Müller and Slovak oenologist Miroslav Petrech. This collaboration has resulted in the production of high-quality wines, especially Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, which have gained international recognition.
The Château Belá Riesling 2020 is a dry white wine that reflects the characteristics of the terroir and the expertise of the winemakers. The wine offers an aromatic profile with notes of ripe nectarine, yellow peach, floral hints and a touch of caramel. In the mouth, the wine starts soft and develops into a ripe and harmonious taste experience.

Wijn uit Slowakije, dat hoor je niet zo vaak. Alhoewel Slowakije geen grote speler is op het toneel van wijnproductie, heeft het land wel een hoop geschiedenis en verrassend mooie wijnen! Jaarlijks wordt er ±350.000 hectoliter aan wijn gemaakt (buurtland Oostenrijk zit hier rond de 2.5 miljoen hectoliter en Frankrijk meer dan 40 miljoen). Het wijnhuis Château Belá is een unieke samenwerking met Egon Müller.
Château Belá: Slowaakse klasse aan de Donau
Aan de oever van de Donau, in het zuiden van Slowakije, ligt Château Belá. Een plek waar geschiedenis en wijnbouw al eeuwenlang met elkaar verweven zijn. In dit historische domein worden elegante, karaktervolle wijnen gemaakt die het terroir van de regio perfect weerspiegelen. Château Belá is vandaag de dag een van de toonaangevende wijnhuizen van Slowakije – en dat is geen toeval.
De regio van Château Belá
Château Belá ligt in de regio Mužla, niet ver van de grens met Hongarije. Het gebied profiteert van een warm, continentaal klimaat met veel zonuren, wat zorgt voor rijpe druiven met volle aroma’s. De nabijheid van de Donau heeft een tempererend effect en zorgt voor frisse nachten, wat belangrijk is voor het behoud van zuren en elegantie in de wijnen.
De bodems bestaan voornamelijk uit löss en kalksteen, met hier en daar vulkanisch gesteente. Deze combinatie geeft de wijnen van Château Belá hun typerende mineraliteit en structuur. Vooral riesling komt hier uitstekend tot zijn recht.
Het Château zelf kent een lange historie. De oorsprong van het landgoed gaat terug tot de 16e eeuw, toen het al werd gebruikt voor wijnbouw. In de loop der eeuwen raakte het domein in verval, maar daar kwam verandering in begin 2000.
De wederopstanding van Château Belá is voor een groot deel te danken aan Egon Müller, de beroemde Duitse wijnmaker uit de Moezel. Hij zag het potentieel van deze plek en besloot in samenwerking met barones Ludmilla von Krockow het domein nieuw leven in te blazen. Met respect voor traditie en een scherp oog voor kwaliteit werd Château Belá omgevormd tot een modern topdomein.
