Bolla is one of the oldest Amarone houses, and over 130 years later, the Bolla winery has grown into a globally renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of Bolla wines, stemming from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto region. Oenologist Christian Zulian has been the winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla, he worked for thirteen years at Marchesi Antinori and several years at Domaine Baron de Rothschild.

The name Tufaie derives from the old name of the Tufa Quarries that once surrounded Verona. This golden volcanic stone, like the color of this wine, was used to build the most beautiful churches and the 'Teatro Romano'. In the glass, this Sur Lie and oak-aged Soave is golden yellow, with notes of citrus, melon, grapefruit, pear, a hint of spices, and honey on the nose. On the palate, this full-bodied Soave has beautiful aromas of acacia flowers, ripe white fruit, and dried almonds. The taste is intense and smooth. Full-bodied with a fantastic structure and an intensely long finish. This Tufaie Soave is a perfect accompaniment to risotto, veal, or freshwater fish.

This version is wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper (see image).

“Unlike other Soaves. Tufaie is in a class of its own. For those who love it: aged in wood. Long aging 'sur lies'. As a result, richer, more complex, and fuller. Marzipan fruit: peach, mango, and banana. A hint of coconut. Sufficiently fresh. Velvety freshness. Forms a classic pairing with a returning classic from the Wina Born era: trout with almonds” , Harold Hamersma in DGH 2018, rated 8.5.

“Admittedly: the other Soaves from Bolla that I tasted are fine too. Different. A bit harsher in their acidity. Tufaie is in a class of its own. Complex, yet accommodating. Adapts to your mood like a chameleon. Knows exactly when you crave creaminess versus silky acidity. Rich, refined yellow fruit. Beautiful,” Harold Hamersma in DGH 2017, rated 8.5.

“The best possible introduction to Bolla is the Tufaie, a Soave Superiore that received partial barrel aging and is composed of 85% Garganega, supplemented by Trebbiano di Soave. Bottled in a heavy bottle, the wine, which still looks youthful, tastes pleasant, fresh, and very juicy, with a light nutty yet mildly fruity aroma reminiscent of peach and pear, and will form a wonderful partnership with, for example, freshwater fish.” Hubrecht Duijker

Cantina Bolla

The story of the Bolla winery starts with one man, Abele Bolla. He lives in the north of Italy, in the Veneto region, where he runs a small family inn. In order to offer his guests more than just a stay, he decided in 1893 to produce a wine that he could serve to his guests. This Soave is a light yellow, fresh, aromatic wine, which reflects the essence of the Veneto area. The demand for this wine grows as more and more people taste its wine. As a result, the family decided to fully focus on wine production. More than 130 years later, the Bolla winery has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines resulting from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area.
