In addition to the Barolo Serralunga and Barolo Meriame, Paolo Manzone also makes a Barolo Riserva in good years, which he makes in a smaller edition. The Riserva only contains a careful selection of grapes from the Meriame cru, 80% of which come from 70-year-old vines. The Riserva matures longer than regular Barolos, namely first 3 years in large Slavonian oak casks, then 2 years in ceramic amphorae and finally another year in the bottle. This combination ensures a balanced, gradual maturation and gives the wine extra complexity. The wine then matures further in the bottle until it is released.

The Riserva of Paolo Manzone comes from vineyards in the Cru Meriame in the comune (municipality) Serralunga d'Alba in Barolo. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 350 meters and are oriented to the south/southeast. The soil consists mainly of clay and limestone. The oldest vines are about 70 years old. In the glass, the Barolo Riserva is ruby red. In the nose aromas of cherries, roses, earth, leather, spices and sage. In the mouth the aromas come back certainly when the wine has received some oxygen. This fantastic Barolo Riserva is rich and powerful but also elegant, harmonious and soft. In its young years it is certainly advisable to open the wine early so that it can breathe.
