Description
“Luc Morlet has certainly proven once again his incredible talents. This is possibly the finest 100% Cabernet Franc ever made in California.” Robert Parker
Nestled in picturesque St. Helena, in the heart of Napa Valley, you'll find Morlet Family Vineyards. They combine old world traditions with the vibrant spirit of California. Founded by Luc and Jodie Morlet, this family-owned winery is dedicated to making exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Napa Valley and the Sonoma Coast.
The Morlets combine old world principles with the terroir of California. The winery focuses on small yields and meticulous vineyard management, ensuring that each grape is carefully hand-picked. Using low-intervention winemaking techniques, Luc and Jodie create powerful yet refined wines that showcase the personality and complexity of their fruit.
This wine captures the powerful, rich and dense character of the Cabernet Franc grapes from the world famous Oakville appellation. Only bottled in excellent vintages, this wine honors Luc's great-grandfather, Gaston Morlet, who was known as a force of nature in his native village of Avenay-Val-d'Or. His pioneering spirit is still one of the driving forces behind the family's passion to make the best wines. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, this wine is truly a 'Force of Nature' or 'Force de la Nature.'
Winemaker notes: Dark red with a hue of purple. Intense and complex bouquet of mocha, toasted coffee bean and freshly cracked black pepper. The palate is reminiscent of the nose, intermixed with notes of black raspberries, scorched earth and forest floor. Full-bodied with a massive tannic structure, this one-of-a-kind stunner is meant to be cellared and will age gracefully for many decades.

About Oakville - Napa Valley
Located in the heart of the region, Oakville represents some of Napa Valley's greatest, most powerful wines. It is this part of Napa Valley that has established itself as a leading producer of cabernet sauvignon, resulting in internationally recognized, award-winning wines. With equally powerful regions surrounding Oakville, including Rutherford, Yountville and St. Helena, the Oakville AVA has managed to produce world-class wines from the unique soil and perfect heat. With a distinct combination of clay, loam and sandy soils, the Oakville region has managed to produce highly complex and structured Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Chardonnay. It is these Bordeaux varieties that have put several wineries in the international spotlight. One of these wineries is Screaming Eagle Winery, which has produced consistent expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon and was able to auction one of their vintages for $500,000. This price tag has made it one of the most expensive wines in the world. In addition to the Screaming Eagle Winery, Oakville has several other wineries throughout the region such as Harlan, Bond, Promontory and Morlet.

Now sourced entirely from Block B on the family's Oakville estate, the 100% varietal 2019 Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature seamlessly marries a fine dusting of dried herbs (sage, bay leaves, mint) with dark berry fruit (cassis, blackberries, black cherries). It's full-bodied and rich, already fully open for business and approachable yet concentrated and velvety, with a long, elegant finish.

Vinous 97:
The 2019 Cabernet Franc Force de la Nature is 100% Franc from Cœur de Vallée. The aromatic intensity of Franc in this gravelly soils is so alluring. Crushed raspberry, mint, spicecake, dried flowers and mocha are all laced together in the captivating bouquet. Beams of tannin add to a feeling of drive as this resonant, textured Franc continues to open in the glass. This is a stunning wine by any measure. But considering the vines were planted only in 2015, even more so!

Decanter 95:
Epernay-born Luc Morlet and his wife Jodie’s Cabernet Franc is a powerhouse at first, with prominent, seemingly unyielding tannins. But within a few hours, those tannins transform and the wine’s underlying suppleness takes the stage. Morlet is not afraid of Franc’s greener side – and his is loaded with spicy menthol and spearmint aromas and flavours. Force de la Nature is an homage to Morlet’s great-grandfather Gaston Morlet, who was often described as such.
