Description
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Muse comes from Buin in Maipo Alto. It was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% first year oak and 30% second year oak. This is the first vintage released at La Place de Bordeaux. A textbook example of a Cabernet from Maipo. Dark garnet in the glass. The nose presents red berry and blackberry notes over a balsamic layer with hints of black pepper on a bed of cedar. Dry and soft on the palate. The fine-grained, polished tannins and slightly juicy flow make for a relaxed, soft, rewarding palate. A long-lasting red wine with a persistent dark fruit flavour.
Alto Maipo, located in the foothills of the Andes at about 460 m above sea level, on the south bank of the Maipo River. The vineyard is located on an alluvial terrace of sediment carried by the Maipo River over millions of years. Soils of low fertility and very good drainage, thanks to the presence of alluvial stones and a mixture of clay, silt and sand, allow Montes to grow Cabernet Sauvignon vines with controlled vigor, producing a wine of subtle elegance and finesse.
" Going back to my beginnings, I wanted to pay tribute to all the women in my family who helped me become who I am. Inspired by these important figures in my life, I decided to make a wine for them. A very meaningful wine. An inspiring wine made to celebrate. So this is a wine inspired by my muses, in which I have tried to create supreme elegance and subtle distinction" . Aurelio Montes"

Very intense aromas of blackcurrants, violets, flower stems, bark and wet earth. Very perfumed. Mushrooms, black truffles and tobacco. Great cabernet sauvignon aromas. Medium-to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and lovely integration. Opens and grows. Goes on for minutes. So fine. This is a terrific, new pure cabernet sauvignon from Montes from the Maipo Valley and made at their wine in the Apalta Valley. September 2022 release. 6,000 bottles made. A new classic in the making and neoclassical in nature. Very drinkable now yet it will be so much better in 2025 and beyond.

Montes is a winery established in early 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand with the vision to begin producing high-end wine unavailable in Chile at the time. Today, Montes commands some of the highest prices per case in the country. After three decades, Viña Montes is a private limited company controlled by the Montes, Garcés Silva, Barros, Murray, Guarachi and Vidaurre families. Headquartered in Apalta, while the vineyard planted by the Chiloé canals mature, Montes uses grapes from different locations ranging from Limarà to as far north as Itata for iconic wines such as Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, Montes Folly Syrah and Purple Angel Carménère. In addition, the Outer Limits label is a line of more experimental offerings. The latest release is Muse, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux blend from Buin in the Maipo Valley, exclusively sold at La Place. Viña Montes represents the ideology of quality wines in Chile. In its almost 40 years, it has established itself as a reliable style option with a thoughtful touch of wood and a hint of ripe fruit.

Montes beschikt over vijf wijngaarden.
