The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Domaine Bachelet-Monnot is an exceptional white wine from Burgundy, France, made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vineyard is located on the border of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, with vines planted in 1950 on limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed for a maximum of three hours. The must is clarified for 12 to 24 hours before fermentation in one-year-old 350-liter oak barrels, with no new oak used.

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru offers aromas of pear, orange, warm bread, white flowers, and praline. Full-bodied, textured, and muscular, rich and powerful, with a deep and meaty core, juicy acidity, and a long, resonant finish. This broad-shouldered, gourmet Bâtard will be at its best with some bottle aging.

Neal Martin of Vinous ends his review with (95-97) with " .....So give this 5-6 years in bottle because there's a killer wine waiting for you "

The Bachelet family is well known in the Côte d'Or, they own plots on some of the most famous vineyards in Burgundy. Despite this, the family had some disagreements about the state of affairs on the domain. The youngest generation, the brothers Marc and Alex, did not panic and meanwhile studied viticulture at the university and did internships elsewhere in France and America. When they returned to Burgundy, their grandfather decided not to give parts of his land to his own sons, but to his two grandsons. From day one, both boys devoted themselves to their new activities with great dedication.

2005 was the first harvest year that Marc and Alex Bachelet worked independently. The gentlemen have in common that they are both huge perfectionists and also very eager to learn. They continuously try to improve and perfect things on the domain and with every visit things have changed again, from the size of the barrels, the duration of the education, to the temperature of the cellar. Besides the great wines they make in the prestigious villages of Puligny and Chassagne, Marc and Alexandre Bachelet also make exemplary wines in Maranges and Santenay.
