Ranked a Pauillac Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, Château Lynch-Moussas was acquired by Jean Castéja in 1919 and has been one of the jewels of family property for a century. Passed on to his son Émile, then by him to his daughter Chantal and his son Philippe, the estate has benefited from the attention of each generation of the Castéja family, who have cared for, developed, modernized and improved this Grand Cru d'. Excellence. The Château Lynch-Moussas vineyard extends over 62 hectares in the Pauillac and Haut-Médoc appellations. Consisting of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, it has been nurtured with meticulous care for 100 years, allowing it to perform at the highest level today alongside the greatest Pauillac growth.
The Château celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Castéja family with a special bottle engraved at the bottom with the name of the castle and at the top an engraving of a crown, symbol of "La fête des fleurs" that took place at the castle last year. The label is also special: red in color with yellow letters, the opposite of what the normal label has in terms of colours.
The Château Lynch-Moussas is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 73% and Merlot 27%. Colored deep garnet purple, the 2019 Lynch Moussas pops out of the glass with vibrant red and black currant scents, followed by baked blackberries, chocolate box and camphor hints and a hint of smoked meat. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with muscular, ripe black fruit, supported by firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, with a long and savory finish.
