Description
Château Lafon Rochet is owned by Guy Tesseron, brother of Alfred Tesseron (Ch. Pontet Canet). It is Guy's son, Basile, who is increasingly involved in vinification from now on. The vineyard is beautifully situated, between Cos d'Estournel and Lafite Rothschild. The wine from Lafon Rochet is a very classic Bordeaux and that means that it certainly needs some time in the bottle to reach full maturity.
The Lafon-Rochet is a blend of Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Lafon-Rochet delivers impressive scents of baked blackberry, warm cassis and black cherry compote with suggestions of charcoal, tar and tobacco plus a hint of mushrooms. The medium to full-bodied palate is loaded with black fruit jam and earthy notes, supported by firm, chewy tannins. This beautiful Lafon-Rochet still needs a few years in the bottle and decant it in its younger years.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 5%

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Lafon-Rochet delivers impactful scents of baked blackberries, warm cassis and black cherry compote, with suggestions of chargrill, tar and tobacco leaf, plus a waft of wild mushrooms. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and earthy accents, supported by firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with great length, if a little chewy.
