Description
Le Stanze is made from a special selection of cabernet sauvignon grapes from the best located parts of different vineyards, supplemented with a little bit of cabernet franc. It matures for twelve months in new 500 liter French oak barrels. As with the Elegia, the Toscana IGT qualification was chosen. The use of cabernet sauvignon alone is not permitted for wines with a DOC or DOCG. With an IGT, the oenologist is free to use as much Cabernet Sauvignon as he wants. This creates a wine with its own unique style. The recognition among the international wine press and enthusiasts shows that this has been a bull's eye. So this is called a Super Tuscan.
Le Stanze del Poliziano has aromas of concentrated cassis fruit, pepper, vanilla, a seductive and creamy wine, with delicious black fruit, herbs, ripe tannins and a beautiful length. Serve it with game, red meat or a hearty piece of cheese.

2016 Poliziano Le Stanze del Poliziano

Drink Date: 2020 - 2030
The 2016 Le Stanze del Poliziano is Cabernet Sauvignon with a small component of Merlot blended in for extra softness. This is a well-assembled wine that shows careful precision and focus, while keeping its full-bodied appeal and concentrated richness in check. The wine opens to dark blackberry and plum with some savory spice, cedar wood and toasted mahogany. Le Stanze is ripe, savory and ready for a romantic evening by the fire as the snowflakes fall beyond a foggy window pane.

POLIZIANO TOSCANA LE STANZE 2019
Score
95
This has a subtle and exotic wasabi-like piquancy and freshness to the olives, cassis and currant leaves. Rich, flavorful and pretty full-bodied on the palate with firm, polished tannins and bright acidity helping to chip away the heaviness here. Really vivid and mouthwatering finish with a lengthy closure. Bravo! Drink or hold.

From: Vino Nobile & Carmignano: Italy’s Forgotten Noble Reds (Apr 2021)
The 2017 Le Stanze del Poliziano (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) is absolutely gorgeous. Black cherry, plum, coffee, dried herbs, spice and new leather all build in the glass. The 2017 balances the character of the French varieties with a distinctly Tuscan acid and structural profile, a combination that works so well. The result is an utterly beguiling, delicious red that can be enjoyed now and over the next decade.

Frederico Carletti, the current owner of Azienda Agricola Poliziano, is responsible for a revolutionary change. Carletti has turned Poliziano into a real wine-producing company, which produces and bottles its own wines. He went to Piemonte to learn the profession of an enologist at the university. He then did internships with various wine producers to gain the necessary practical experience. Then it was time to realize his childhood dream. Since taking office in 1981, the company's star has risen rapidly. His innovations included the planting of new grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the creation of new wines, such as Le Stanze, Elegia and a Riserva from separate vineyards, such as the Vigna Asinone. With these showpieces, Carletti has won the hearts of wine lovers and has won numerous prizes at international competitions. Poliziano is now widely regarded as one of the great pioneers of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
