Description
Château Margaux is one of the most famous wineries in the world. It is located in Bordeaux near the town of Margaux. Château Margaux is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé according to the Bordeaux wine classification system of 1855. The estate includes 82 hectares for red wine and 12 hectares for white wine. On these 94 hectares, 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc are grown. 12 hectares of Sauvignon blanc have been planted for white wine. The second wine from the winery is called Pavillon rouge. The white wine "Pavillon Blanc" is considered the best white wine of the Médoc. Since 2009, Château Margaux also produces a third wine called "Margaux du Château Margaux". This third wine has been made since 1997, but until 2009 it was always sold in bulk to other wine producers. As one of the largest and best known producers in the Margaux, Chateau Margaux produces an average of 25,000 cases of their Grand vin.
The white wine from this great winery is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. A fairly light but fine vintage Pavillon Blanc. It opens slowly with scents of fresh pineapple, lime blossom, orange peel and lemon curd with hints of yuzuzest, wet pebbles, flint and kumquat. Medium-bodied, the palate really sings of vibrant citrus fruits and mineral accents, with a very lively freshness, ending with great length and whispering about enormous aging potential.
The hottest year since the beginning of the 20th century; temperatures in 2018 were 3.24°F above the national average. In Margaux the year started with a relatively mild winter with temperatures below normal and occasional frosts in February, which did not affect our vines. The rest of the year was hot, sometimes very hot, compared to seasonal averages, marked by record temperatures in the last ten days of June and the first ten days of August, well over 7.2 °F above the 30-year average.
