2017 Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé

Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and a dash of 1% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Montrose wine was allowed to mature in 60% new and 40% one-year oak barrels where it was aged for 18 months. stayed in. Deep garnet purple in colour, the nose takes some time to unfold before revealing an impressively flamboyant core of black cherry preserves, warm cassis and baked plums with hints of red currant jelly, dark chocolate, licorice, cardamom plus a gentle hint of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic intensity with a very elegant, modest weight, with super ripe, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness to a stunning array of beautiful black fruits. The wine has a significant aging potential and an exceptionally long shelf life. Certain vintages (1921, 1929, 1982, 1990, 2009) are considered legendary and the 2017 has one of the highest ratings ever with a drinking window until 2060+
