2016 Chateau Perron Lalande de Pomerol

Château Perron is a family business that has been making wine since 1642. The beautiful chateau is located in the municipality of Libourne in the appellation Lalande de Pomerol and belongs to the top of this region. The chateau is very innovative and its wines are now produced with the highest organic certification (Certified High Environmental Value III level, or Environment Management System).

This beautiful and affordable Pomerol is a blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 65 years. The manual harvest takes place with 1st selection in the vineyard and afterwards on a vibrating table in the Château. They also have a so-called Mistral table which is equipped with a blower with which all irrelevant matters are blown away after the double selection (such as leaves, loose stems, insects, etc.). The alcoholic fermentation takes place in cement vats with temperature control and takes on average no less than 45 days (fermentation and lactic acid fermentation). The wine is then allowed to mature in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new oak barrels; 40% 2nd year and 40% 3rd year oak barrels. The wine remains in the barrel for 12-14 months. The wine receives only a very light filtration (tangential flow filtration) and then the wine in the bottle remains in the cellar of the Chateau for at least 6 months.

The wine is an absolute Pomerol with a beautiful fresh dark sparkling red color with purple shades in the glass. In the nose we smell candied red and black fruits, cocoa, vanilla, toast and even a little leather. The wine has a silky entry, with beautiful notes of red fruits and with great ripeness and intensity. The taste is rich, fleshy, concentrated, powerful. This is a beautiful pomerol and in terms of price/quality, we don't think you can find a better one.
