Description
They are among the secret heroes of the international wine world: winegrowers such as the quality-oriented Carlos Figueiredo, who respects his native Dão and the local terroir, but at the same time also produces wines at world level. In his wines, wine lovers will find the individuality that is often lost in times of increasing globalization of wine taste: authentic, traditionally prepared wines with a radiant regional character, made from indigenous grape varieties in a small edition. It is therefore no surprise that Señor Figueiredo planted the touriga nacional - the king of Portuguese grapes - and produces characteristic, quintessentially Portuguese terroir wines such as the Quinta da Falorca Touriga Nacional Dão 2011. It is not without reason that the wine has 95 Parker points to its name!
The Touriga Nacional Quinta Da Falorca is a mix of Touriga grapes from three plots of 40 years old and 1 vineyard slightly younger. Used with 31 clones in total!! The grapes have matured for 18 months in both 1-year used and new French oak. The combination of power, finesse and elegance makes this a very seductive wine. The wine needs time and can improve even further over the years and we therefore recommend not opening the first bottle until 2022, but they can also remain in the cellar until 2035+ (but why would you do that). The wine can best be compared to a beautiful sturdy red top Burgundy, but then it is only a fraction of the price. 94/100 Parker and only around 7,000 bottles were made
The wine has an impressive cherry red color with a violet edge. The exceptionally lively bouquet smells of black cherries, blackberries, blueberries and pampers the nose with floral aromas, notes of herbs, spices and fragrant barrel flavors such as cocoa, toast and espresso. On the palate an impressive fusion of power and finesse, with ripe but firm tannins, excellent concentrated acidity, well-balanced fruitiness and noticeable but perfectly integrated wood aromas. The final shows strength, length and enormous potential. That is, without any ifs or buts, the level of a grand cru.
This wine goes well with rustic, Mediterranean stews, refined lamb dishes and grilled vegetables such as eggplant and zucchini.

The 2015 Touriga Nacional Quinta da Falorca is a blend with more than 30 clones of Touriga Nacional from three different vineyards and was aged for 18 months in new French oak. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Fresh and expressive of its grape in flavor, it is also very aromatic and bright. This is an elegant Touriga that eschews jammy fruit. It goes for elegance, silky texture and liveliness more than big concentration in mouthfeel. This is a sunny delight and a little exuberant right now. It is more graceful than the typical 2015, it seems. This should improve nicely with age. Whatever the final result, it is a perfect food wine, and it will be a pleasure to drink. It is quite drinkable today, but it will continue to develop. Holding it another year or two would help. There were 7,200 bottles produced.

Located in Pindelos or Silgueiros, Quinta da Falorca is the reference model and top wine house from the Portuguese Dão. No volumes but only quality. It is therefore quite difficult to get a Quinta da Falorca and especially their high-end wines. This is due to a number of factors, namely:
- unprecedented fine wines
- made in very small quantities
- and still very affordable
