Description
Chartron et Trébuchet is a négociant brand for Burgundy wines, owned since 2016 by Maison Martenot, part of the huge GCF (Grands Chais de France) group. It covers a wide range of appellations within the region, although there is a greater numerical emphasis on white wines.
The company was founded in 1984 in Puligny-Montrachet as the negociant operation of Jean-René Chartron, of Domaine Jean Chartron, in partnership with local merchant Louis Trébuchet. The initial focus was on wines from that village and they make a number of very rare top wines including this Chartron et Trébuchet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses. A collector's item as only a handful of bottles were ever made.
The Les Amoureuses vineyard is known as one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny and borders the world-famous Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard. The name “Les Amoureuses” (French for “the lovers”) suggests romance and passion, which suits the refined and sensual character of the wines produced here. Les Amoureuses is located on an ideal slope, with limestone-rich soils mixed with clay, which is perfect for the production of Pinot Noir. This terroir gives the wine a delicate minerality, soft tannins, and a complex layering that is typical of Chambolle-Musigny wines.
The Chartron et Trébuchet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is a very elegant wine with an expressive nose of red fruits such as raspberries, strawberries and cherries, and subtle floral notes of violets and roses. The wine offers a soft, silky texture and refined acidity, with flavors of berries and a light spiciness. After a few years of bottle aging, it often develops additional complexity with notes of truffle, mushrooms and light earthy accents.

Wijnhuis
