2008 Piper-Heidsieck Brut Cuvée Rare

Florens Louis Heidsieck introduced his first champagne cuvée in 1780. In 1785 he decided that he was ready to found his own champagne house, called Heidsieck. His philosophy: 'a wine that smiles, created with the utmost care'. The House's reputation and brand image have emerged from one of the most important types of media, namely word-of-mouth advertising. At that time there were no awards to be won for wines, but Florens Louis Heidsieck still managed to attract attention in a very special way. He is said to have been summoned by the Court of Versailles to present a bottle of his champagnes to Queen Marie-Antoinette.

After his death, his cousin Christian Heidsieck maintains his uncle's philosophy with the help of his cousin Henri Guillaume Piper. Thanks to his extraordinary business spirit and sense of public relations, 14 royal and imperial courts granted him the privilege of “purveyor to the court”. Soon the enthusiasts wanted nothing more than “The Heidsieck from Piper”. This is how the wine gets the name “Piper-Heidsieck” and it becomes the champagne for all festive occasions!

Piper Heidsieck Rare 2008 is the absolute top of this winery. Everything comes together beautifully with this Champagne. For this vintage Champagne, a blend of 70% Chardonnay from the most beautiful vineyards in the Montagne de Reims was chosen. 30% Pinot Noir is added from various Grand Cru vineyards. The Vintage Champagne matures in the cellars for no less than 7 years.
