André Clouet founded the champagne house in 1741. Today, Jean-François Clouet is responsible for 7 hectares of vineyards, located in the Grand Cru villages of Bouzy and Ambonnay. His Grand Cru vineyards mainly have pinot noir vines planted. All his champagnes mature for at least 4 years in the underground cellars before being put on the market. Jean-François works completely naturally through manual harvesting, no irrigation, as little pesticides as possible, different plants and grasses between the vineyards to promote biodiversity and he uses recycled materials for packaging. The famous cult wine Bouzy Grand Cru Le Clos is the wine that he only releases in the top years and also only when the wine is in perfect condition, which also means that a newer (warmer) year comes on the market earlier than a cool year.

The 2006 Champagne André Clouet Bouzy Grand Cru Le Clos is bottled exclusively in magnums. This great Grandcru Champagne comes from a mini plot of 0.5 hectares with very old vines in the historic domain. Fermented in oak, the gold colored Le Clos is very pure yet complex with a fragrant nose with a nice oxidative touch with chalk and discreet oak and mushroom aromas. Very clear and precise. The palate is dense and tense, very fresh and elegant, revealing a very long and tightly structured finish with richness, salt and purity. The 2006 was released later than the 2008 given the somewhat cooler year (that was the previous vintage and this wine is only made in the top years). The wine is still very young and will improve even further with aging and can be stored in the cellar until at least 2045 if you have that patience.
