Chateau Calon-Ségur
Chateau Calon-Ségur
This magnificent cru from St. Estèphe used to belong to mrs. Capbern Gasqueton. After her death in 2012, the château was sold to the insurance company Crédit Mutuel Suravenir for a huge sum. Laurent Dufau (ex-trainee at Ch. Lafite Rothschild and working at the retailer Ballande et Meneret) was hired as a manager in 2013, while Vincent Millet remained technical director. Major works were immediately started, including a complete plan of replanting with much more cabernet sauvignon than before. The terroir turned out to be better suited for this variety. The cuverie was also renewed. From 2015, a new label was introduced and the capsules and boxes were also restyled to express the new quality style to wine enthusiasts. Ch. Calon Ségur is a real cabernet sauvignon wine with finesse without arrogance. The elegance lies in the purity of the taste and the delicacy of the structure. It has very good storage potential.
