Weingut Schwarz is located in an area called "Seewinkel" in the Burgenland region of Austria, and is about 20 km wide, along the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. The villages of Illmitz, Apetlon and Podersdorf are located on this reed bed wetland, which is actually a nature reserve. It is an immense plain, with numerous shallow lakes of different sizes scattered throughout the area. The surrounding area is often covered in dense fog, which gives a special charm to the region. The climate has warm, dry summers and extremely cold winters - a unique microclimate.
