The Insignia was his first wine and it has since grown into a flagship wine and is one of the best wines in the world. Joseph Phelps now owns 150ha in the Napa Valley, in eight vineyards across the region. His passion for wine also made him decide to buy two great (old) vineyards in Sonoma Coast (Freestone Vineyards) in 1999 where he currently makes great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Joseph Phelps is synonymous with the top of the world and is a winemaker where grape and aftertaste always prevail.
