Susumaniello

Susumaniello is one of the rarest, ancient grape varieties in the world and was almost extinct until recently. The special grape is only planted in the heel of Italy in Salento (Puglia) where only a few winemakers make an incredibly beautiful Italian red wine from it.

What does wine from the Susumaniello grape taste like?

Wines from the Susumaniello grape are often characterized by a deep ruby red hue and aromas of red berries and plums. Richer, more concentrated wines from this grape also contain spicy, peppery aromas and dark chocolate flavors.
