The pinotage is a real South African grape. The name pinotage is a contraction of the two grape varieties from which the grape originated: the pinot noir and the hermitage (another name for the cinsaut). The pinotage has its own personality, just like the wines of this grape. Pinotages can be very fruity and ripen well. In the 90s, Pinotage became a huge success worldwide.

What does wine from the Pinotage grape taste like?

A perfect Pinotage can be spicy with accents of black pepper, mint and eucalyptus. Fruity notes release of mulberry, blackberries and plums. Even a hint of lava, sometimes slightly burnt rubber and the deep taste of stewed black fruits.
