The Cortese is a grape variety that is mainly planted in the eastern part of Piedmont, such as in the Monferrato. It has become known as the grape of the Gavi, and thanks to the international success of that wine, the grape was planted over an ever-increasing area in the 2nd half of the 20th century.

What does wine from the Cortese grape taste like?

The Cortese is a grape that is not very aromatic and often produces beautiful, elegant and delicate wines, especially in the Gavi region. They are therefore also popular in gastronomy. With a light, slightly salty minerality and citrus notes, it is a perfect accompaniment to light fish dishes. The Cortese has sufficient acidity and is therefore also a nice fresh summer wine. In the taste you can often taste green apples, pure claude and yellow and tropical fruit.
