Winemakers Dinner with René Barbier – Clos Mogador, Mas Martinet & Venus la Universal
On Tuesday, November 18th , we're hosting a special Winemakers Dinner in the heart of Dordrecht . This evening will focus on Catalan winemaker René Barbier , known for his work on Clos Mogador , Mas Martinet , and Venus la Universal . Nine wines, fine dining dishes, and one inspiring winemaker who will share his life's work and vision with you.
During this evening, we'll taste nine carefully selected wines from René Barbier. Each glass tells its own story about Priorat and Montsant—wines with character, tension, and depth, crafted with respect for nature and terroir.
The dishes are prepared by chef Cees Timmerman of La Cebolla . His culinary style perfectly complements the elegance and intensity of Barbier's wines. Don't expect a classic dinner, but rather a series of refined dishes that together create a single culinary story.
The Winemakers Dinner will take place from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the Kunstkerk in Dordrecht. Doors open at 6:00 PM , so everyone can arrive safely before the event begins.

ABOUT RENE BARBIER
We don't really need to say much about iconic winemaker René Barbier. His Clos Mogador is perhaps the most famous Priorat wine. Priorat has become one of Spain's most prestigious wine regions, but Clos Mogador remains one of its pillars. While major investors have found their way to the area, the Barbier family has maintained its own rhythm. They don't view winemaking as an industry, but as a way to unite landscape, tradition, and family. This is what makes their wines so recognizable and sought-after. For many wine lovers, a bottle of Clos Mogador is a journey through the Priorat itself.
René Barbier, along with Carles Pastrana of Clos de l'Obac, Alvaro Palacios (from Rioja, but known for L'Ermita in Priorat), and José Lluis Perez (Clos Martinet, and father of Sarah Perez), is one of the founding fathers of the Priorat wine region. Clos Mogador is named after the single vineyard that René Barbier began cultivating in the 1970s, in the now world-famous village of Gratallops. The wines of Clos Mogador have since become legendary, much like those of Sassicaia from Italy and Château Margaux from France. Clos Mogador has achieved cult status as a major wine worldwide.
