Enate
Enate
Enate is a modern Bodega from Somontano in northern Spain. Enate is located in the village of Salas Bajas, in Somontano, which is located in the northeast of Spain, a good distance from the coast. The leafy landscape can be quite rough, which fully confirms the name Somontano - under the mountains. The local wine growers have had to lobby for a long time to obtain their DO status, but they did manage in the end. Since then, Somontano has been a big name in Spanish wine growing. So enate wines come from a good family. The area where the grape for the Enate wine is grown is characterized by above average rainfall and an abundance of rivers and streams. All that water is good for the soil, which consists largely of clay and sandstone. The nearby Pyrenees give the weather a certain capriciousness. At night it is surprisingly cold, while the sun can scorch in the afternoon. Those 2 extremes give the grapes used for the Enate wine a good balance of acids and sugars.
