Auxerrois

Auxerrois is a white French grape variety, crossed from the pinot and heunisch weiss. The name auxerrois is also used for the red grape variety côt or malbec, with which this grape should not be confused. The name auxerrois probably originates from the French county of Auxerre. Especially in Alsace, the grape is planted as one of the most important for the crémant d'Alsace. It is also widely planted in Luxembourg; in Germany to a lesser extent. New wine countries have already discovered her and she can be found in Canada, South Africa and the Netherlands. 

What does wine from the Auxerrois grape taste like?

The Auxerrois is a very fresh fruity wine. In its fragrance, notes of apricot and peach come to the fore. This wine is a great combination with salads or fish dishes, but can also be used as an aperitif.
