Arinto dos Açores

The Arinto dos Açores is the most important grape variety of the archipelago. The Arinto dos Açores is a completely unique variety, native to the Azores, whose origin is unknown. However, recent studies suggest that it is a descendant of the Verdelho variety. Of the three traditional varieties grown in Pico, the Arinto dos Açores is the most resistant to bad weather, with a greater yield capacity and oenological quality comparable to, or even better than, Verdelho.

What does wine from the Arinto dos Açores grape taste like?

The wine has richness in maritime aromas, intertwined with notes of lemon fruit, a hint of light spice and a volcanic minerality.
